The Reading First California Technical Assistance Center (C-TAC) offers a professional development sequence specifically for reading/literacy coaches serving Reading First schools.
The focus of the training program is on the responsibility, role, and relationship of a coach in support of the teaching of reading/language arts to improve achievement of kindergarten through third grade students.
Each institute is conducted in both northern and southern California. Modules at each Institute include current research on reading instruction, strategies for effective coaching, in-depth study of the district-adopted reading/language arts curriculum, delivery of instruction, and practical applications to the coach work at their Reading First schools.
